The Washington National Opera Presents “Eugene Onegin” at JFK Center for the Performing Arts, Now Trough March 29

Eugene Onegin, the timeless Tchaikovsky opera adapted from a novel by Alexander Pushkin, has generated rave reviews across the world for over a century. Throughout the month of March, you can see a Canadian Opera Company production of the opera at the Opera House of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts.

This engagement marks the first time the show has been on a Washington stage in over a quarter century. Focusing on the decades-long relationship between the starry-eyed youth Tatiana (Anna Nechaeva) and the older, guarded Onegin (Igor Golovatenko) the story explores themes of regret, missed chances, and the love that might have been. The performance’s runtime is approximately three hours across two acts, including a 25 minute intermission. Music is performed in Russian with projected English translation. Tickets range from $45 up to $300. Check the Kennedy Center’s website for ticketing, details on pre- and post-performance events, and more.
