Enjoy Live Music and Much More at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on June 29th and 30th
This year, the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival will pay homage to the cultural contributions made by musicians over the years. Over the course of June 29th and 30th, you’ll learn all about the history of music and the power it holds to create change. In fact, the festivities kick off on Saturday at the National Mall with an exhibit about local music culture, the D.C. Music Preservation Pop-Up.
On Sunday, June 30th, check out The Brightsiders, Dan and Claudia Zanes, Sonia De Los Santos, and Elizabeth Mitchell as they croon a tribute to Pete Seeger at the Smithsonian Folkways. In addition to these headlining events, the festival is also teaming up with other local venues to bring more entertainment to town. For instance, the Kenney Center will host five free concerts on its Millennium Stage from June 29th to July 3rd.
