Welcome Spring at the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run & 5K Run-Walk Near Our Capitol Hill Apartments

Each year when Washington, D.C.’s iconic cherry trees burst into bloom, signaling the beginning of spring, the city suddenly seems to hum to life. The blossoms also mean the start of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which comes with parades, parties, and many other events. One of them is the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run & 5K Run-Walk, slated for Sunday, April 3rd not far from our apartments in D.C.

It’s your opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise as you bob between the cherry blossoms, so it shouldn’t be surprising that the race tends to be a popular one! However, it’s actually a collection of races, including a 5K for novice athletes and a 10-miler for anyone looking for a challenge. You’re welcome to run or walk the 5K, whereas anyone who signs up for the 10-mile race is encouraged to keep a quick pace along the entire route. If you won’t be able to join in person on April 3rd (or don’t yet feel comfortable in a crowd), register for the virtual race instead! You’ll be able to complete a 5K or 10-mile race anytime on the course of your choice and log your results as a race participant.
