Don’t Miss This Year’s DC Jazz Festival
DC is a city that loves its jazz, so It’s no wonder that it hosts one of the nation’s best jazz festivals. The DC Jazz Festival, running throughout the month of June, is just part of the District’s rich tradition in the quintessentially American musical form.
Jazz legend Duke Ellington was born and bred in DC, and U Street was home to some of the hottest jazz clubs on Earth. This year’s festival recaptures some of that heritage with hundreds of performances at venues all over the city. Some of the highlights of the lineup include Chucho Valdés and Gonzalo Rubalcaba at the Kennedy Center on June 15 and Leslie Odom Jr. (of Hamilton fame) at The Anthem on June 16. But be sure you don’t miss the smaller neighborhood shows—there will be performances at over 40 venues across 22 different neighborhoods. Check the website for a full schedule, artist and event profiles, and ticketing information.
