Hone Your Skills as a Novice Artist at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop
Tap dance, oil painting, and photography are just a handful of the things you can learn how to do at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW). The community arts center made its grand debut in 1972 as a nonprofit dedicated to growing a low of arts throughout the DC community. That goal remains the same today, and the main way the CHAW team reaches it is through semester-long art classes and special events.
Both kids and adults can get in on the fun at the art studio. If you want to sharpen your skills as a photographer, or build a foundation in the first place, register for the Fundamentals of Digital Photography course. It spans two months, during which you meet once a week for two hours to work on technical and creative shutterbug skills. More interested in the performing arts? CHAW’s adult tap dance class spends three months teaching pupils everything from shuffling and flapping to combinations and dance routines, depending on how much time you want to commit.
