Support the Arts With the Capital Hill Jazz Foundation

Have you heard of the Capital Hill Jazz Foundation? This nonprofit organization supports the Washington, DC jazz community and its talented jazz musicians. The organization offers events and services such as a weekly jam session, an annual jazz festival, and arts advocacy on behalf of D.C. jazz musicians.

One of the foundation’s most popular events is the Capitol Hill Jazz Jam, a weekly jazz jam session held at Mr. Henry’s Restaurant every Wednesday from 8 to 11 p.m. The house band rotates performers every week from a group of more than 50 local jazz musicians, enabling each player to earn $100 each time they play. In addition to musicians, the jazz jam also features vocalists, tap dancers, poets, and other artists.

Hill Fest is another great event hosted by the Capital Hill Jazz Foundation. This annual festival features a conference addressing policy concerns that directly affect musicians, as well as a day-long concert showcasing local jazz musicians. This year’s Hill Fest will take place on October 6, and it will feature Stefon Harris & Blackout, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, JOGO Project and many others.
