Summer’s here, which means it’s festival season, and this year one of DC’s most anticipated celebrations is The Native Tongue Fest on July 18. This unique one-evening-only event celebrates 30 years of hip hop music and Afrocentric beats with performances by legendary artists affiliated with the original Native Tongues collective, including Jungle Bros. Monie Love, DJ Maseo (of De La Soul), Jarobi White (of A Tribe Called Quest), and many more. T
he whole evening is being hosted by Poet Taylor (who you can hear on WPGC-FM) and DJ Bee (who regularly appears on ItsFreshRadio.com) so you can be sure the event will be popping and the dance floor will be packed. Doors open at 5:30 pm, with music starting at 7 pm on the dot. Tickets are on sale now and range from $70 (for general admission) to $125 (for VIP seating). See the website for details.
