Georgetown Glow: The Holiday Spirit Isn’t Far From The Residences at Eastern Market
Not into “cheesy” holiday stuff? One way to enjoy the season of lights without the fluff is to see a modern light installation outdoors. It’s a better time than ever before to make the 20-minute drive from your apartment near Seward Square DC out to Georgetown to experience Georgetown Glow. See how modern art comes alive in one of the most historic parts of DC. Bonus, you’ll get some steps in while you walk around in the brisk winter air.
Park at the 24-hour garage at Georgetown Park, and plan to explore the district on foot as you walk through more than 10 curated light art installations in the streets of Georgetown. You can bet that the 2020 artist lineup will be a mixture of modern artists. Walk under lights that illuminate a particular street or relax on a bench in the glow of another exhibit.
Check out the map on the website or book a walking tour with a professional to hear more about the context of the exhibition. The lighted artwork is spread across several blocks in the city, so bring comfortable walking shoes.
This year, Georgetown Glow will run from December 4 through January 10. It’s free and open to the public, so you can experience the light installations from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. every night throughout the Georgetown business district. Remember to pause and enjoy the moment!
