Stretch Your Way to a More Serene Summer at Yoga on the Magnolia Terrace Near Our Capitol Hill Apartments
The beautiful brick terrace at Carlyle House Historic Park, not far from our apartments in D.C., overlooks an expanse of towering leafy trees set aglow by the summer sun. The beautiful natural scene serves as the perfect backdrop for Yoga on the Magnolia Terrace. Two or three times every week, the terrace hosts an hour-long flow in either the after-work twilight or late-morning sunshine.
The certified yoga instructor leads a gently flowing class that carefully links breath to movement. The pace is slow enough that anyone can join, even guests who’ve never practiced yoga before, but that’s not to say it’s easy. The series of sun salutations will gradually build heat and strength until you’re ready to work on poses that require balance, followed by deep stretching and a calming meditation. Drop in for a class for $10 (registration required) or opt for a five-class pack to use throughout the summer for $40. Guests must bring their own yoga mat, towels, and water. Note that classes may be canceled in the case of inclement weather, so check your email before heading out.
